Inviting Failure to Dinner Part B: A Conversation With Dr. Lora Delgado, Professor of Education at Vanderbilt University

“Failures are more likely to happen in novel environments than consistent contexts…and yet we still get upset about them.” Edmondson, 2023

JSS is excited to deepen the conversation about inviting failure to dinner. Last week we posted, Inviting Failure to Dinner: How to Fit Intelligent Failure into your Organization’s Culture, and it has generated more conversation from more people than anything we have shared so far. We don’t have to wonder why that is. This topic is a little sticky, isn’t it?

Well, we are in for a treat this week. Dr. Lora Delgado will be joining JSS today for a followup discussion about this week’s topic. Dr. Delgado is a career educator who has worked across early childhood, K-12, higher education and professional learning and development. She recently joined the Texas Education Agency (the state department of ed) and also teaches courses in learning research and design in Vanderbilt University’s Learning, Leadership & Organizations doctoral program. Her areas of interest include decision-making, data use, and sociotechnical system development. Lora is a mom to 2.5-year-old Benjamin and along with her husband, Jonathan, they love to travel as a family. Ben has already been to 3 countries, 2 national parks, and 5 other states & Washington, D.C.
